John Kerry’s campaign announced today it has canceled television ads in Colorado for the remainder of the campaign. Why? Is Kerry conceding a likely Bush win? Or, as his campaign suggests, are the ads no longer necessary because the push in Colorado is now about getting out the vote rather than convincing voters whom to vote for? Or, do Kerry’s internal polling numbers show a win for him here, making the money better spent in Ohio and Wisconsin, states that remain very much in play?
The Bush campaign says it will continue with Colorado ads, although they will focus more on Bush and less on attacking Kerry. Smart move. The attack ads of both candidates have gotten old and voters here are sophisticated enough to recognize them as spin rather than fact.
