Things I am good at: drinking, shakin’ my booty, socializing. Things I suck at: snowboarding, roasting turkey, saying “no” to friends’ pet charity events. So maybe you won’t be surpised to hear that I’ve been suckered into emceeing the French-American Business Association’s Monte Carlo Night to celebrate the annual release of the Beaujolais Nouveau on Thursday at the Warwick Hotel. Why did I let my friend Cynthia talk me into this? Je ne sais quoi, my friends. I can barely utter a passable “bonjour” en francaise, but fortunately I’m off the hook there — I can host the auction in English. Originally, this little shindig was planned to be held at the Brasserie Rouge French Restaurant. Except that the Rouge closed quite suddenly last week (my grapevine has it that owners Leigh and Robert Thompson are splitting up, not that the restaurant failed). Now the even will be held at the Millenium Ballroom on the 15th floor of the Warwick Hotel, but everything else remains the same. French buffet dinner, cash bar, casino entertainment, and a silent auction that includes a week-long stay at a villa in Provence. The festivities are from 6-10 p.m. Tix are $40 in advance, $45 at the door. RSVP to FABA or call 303-695-7818.
