No plans for Christmas Eve? Most Denver restaurants and businesses will be closed, but you can find some action on the Internet. Ringo Starr is teaming up with NORAD this Christmas Eve. He’ll be serving as Santa Claus’ official tracker for the air defense organization based in Colorado Springs.
As children around the world anxiously await the arrival of Santa Claus later this week, Beatles drummer Ringo Starr will be hard at work beaming out live action shots of the man in red to the Internet.
NORAD says Ringo is a natural for the gig because Santa is his close personal friend. Starr — who released a holiday CD in 1999 called I Want to Be Santa Claus — will be tracking the progress of the big bearded man and his reindeer from an undisclosed location as they fly over Great Britain. “I’m going to be operating one of NORADs SantaCams and I’ll try to get some high-tech images of Santa,” said Starr in a promotional radio piece for NORAD.
