Statewide Smoking Ban Gathers Steam

|

A bill will be introduced in the Colorado legislature to ban smoking in bars and restaurants state-wide. In the past, the Denver City Council has rejected the ban, mostly because bars and restaurants fear that their customers will just go to a neighboring town that does not have a ban.

If a state-wide ban is enacted, that reason falls by the wayside. The bill probably has a good chance of passing. If it does, non-smokers should get ready for more smoke in their faces as they walk down the street. It will be the only place left for smokers to light up. Why wouldn’t non-smokers just patronize non-smoking establishments rather than force their will on everyone? Will anyone stand up for smokers’ rights?

Probably not.
