Grab your pampered pooch and join Denver’s distinguished doggie lovers for this two-mile walk and fun run in lush Wash Park. Four-legged friends are encouraged, but you’re free to walk or run without a canine. Pledges go to assist the League in caring for up to 25,000 homeless animals each year. Registration ends May 4. Bruce Springsteen—May 7
Champion of the blue-collar man, this living legend has been reborn with his first solo album since 1995, Devils and Dust. The Boss kicks up some dust on his international tour, taking his acoustic, raw talent to the stage. The album is a sequel to his other solo, 1995’s Ghost of Tom Joad, and features bare, country and folk-influenced rock tunes. Opera 101—Paul Bunyan-May 10
Catch a sneak preview of Central City Opera’s summer operetta, which chronicles the life of the famous pioneer lumberjack. The performance is set to ballads, folk songs, blues, and hymns of Americana. Bunyan’s struggle to survive accompanies the true theme of the piece: the battle between preserving nature and encouraging industrialization. Lewis and Clark: The National Bicentennial Exhibition

Accompany these two intrepid explorers on their improbable travels westward from 1804-1806. View hundreds of artifacts, including American Indian objects, maps, and plant specimens. Arthritis Walk—May 5
Lace up the walking shoes and support those dealing with arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability. Participants walk a three-mile, non-competitive event in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis. Those afflicted with the disease will wear blue hats. Funds from the event support The Arthritis Foundation, which engages in research and public policy to improve the lives of arthritis sufferers.
