Sometimes change is good. For the Revoluciones Collective Art Space, this is not one of those times. The gallery has been a community gathering place for urban art, experimental music, performance artists and general counter-culturalism since it opened in 1997. The original space was in a fixer-upper warehouse on 8th Avenue near the Santa Fe arts district, but the gallery moved to a larger spot called The Construct on Brighton Boulevard last year. Now the owners are closing it down again for an unspecified period while they look for a permanent home in a building of their own. Friday and Saturday the gallery will have live music and performance art for the final weekend, and if you haven’t been in before, it’s worth supporting. Think digi-pop multimedia musical performances, live bands, and a slew of creative types who appreciate all things weird and wonderful. Of course, if you are like the many escapists — myself included — who will flee the city this weekend, I’m sure they’ll understand.
