Focus on Family Values chief James Dobson has agreed to explain what he knows about Harriet Miers.

Focus on the Family founder James Dobson will take to the airwaves Wednesday and Thursday to clarify what information he got from the White House or other sources about U.S. Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers. …. Dobson plans to address the Miers nomination again in a two-part broadcast scheduled to air on Wednesday and Thursday.

Of course, he won’t be under oath on his radio show, as he would be if called to testify at the Senate Judiciary Committee meetings. I don’t expect this to satisfy either Judiciary Chair Arlen Specter — or even our own Senator Ken Salazar.

Here’s the key statement he needs to address:

“When you know some of the things I know that I probably shouldn’t know that take me in this direction, you’ll know why I’ve said with fear and trepidation (that) I believe Harriet Miers will be a good justice.”

Dobson needs to begin by explaining:

  • What did Karl Rove tell him about Harriet Miers?
  • Who did Karl Rove suggest he speak with about her?
  • Did anyone tell him that Miers has said how she would rule on a particular issue that might come before the court?
