The Wynkoop Brewery is still taking resumes to apply for the coveted title of “Beer Drinker of the Year” for 2006. And yes, they are serious.

Now in its 10th year, the contest “seeks and honors the most passionate, knowledgeable beer lover in the United States,” and is open to suds sippers from across the country. The resumes should include the entrant’s beerdrinking philosophy, details highlighting their foamy passions, and demonstrable knowledge of beer history and its importance to civilization.

Heavy stuff, eh? But here’s the prize. Aside from a priceless plaque for the winning beer drinker’s home pub, proclaiming it to be the watering hole of choice for the nation’s foremost beer drinker, the winner gets a $250 bar tab at his or her nearest brewpub and free beer for life at the Wynkoop. The top three entrants — judged by the nation’s “top beer minds” (as chosen by Marty Jones, organizer of the event, and the beer-savvy folks in their national network) and by past winners of the event — will convene in Denver on February 25, 2006 for the final round.

Interested? Send your resume, but don’t send beer. Details at www.wynkoop.com
