We’ve all heard about the dangers of meeting people in person you’ve met in an internet chat room. But a live dating service? Check this out:

A 32-year-old man called a popular telephone dating service, but when he met up with the girl on the other end of the line, authorities say he got more than he bargained for — a man with a bat. The Parker man was allegedly robbed of his money and leather jacket Tuesday, after authorities said he went to an address given to him over the phone by Brooke Martin, 23, according to a statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office….Authorities also said the man found Martin through “Live Links,” a telephone dating service often advertised during late-night television programs.

The dating company’s response? So sorry, Charlie, but it’s date at your own risk.
