Let’s show some support for the Children’s Museum of Denver, one of Denver’s best community experiences for small children, with educational “playscapes” designed for kids from newborn to age 8. The building sustained significant smoke damage last Wednesday night, when a fire on the north wall of the building threatened to spread inside and cause more severe damage. They had to close up shop for two days to clean up, but the plucky employees quickly got back on their feet, reopening the museum last Saturday with continued events held outside in heated tents. But the museum still needs our help. The worst damage hit the administrative offices, and they are hoping to get support from the community this Thursday evening, January 19, with a post-fire fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There is no set cost, just a request for a donation of “as much as your heart allows.” Children are naturally welcome, and they’ll provide snacks, drinks, music, activities, and an auction to help raise funds. Can’t attend? You can donate online, or send a check payable to The Children’s Museum of Denver, 2121 Children’s Museum Drive, Denver, Co 80211; please note “fire fund” on the memo.
