For Some Big Learning
Did you know that one in three American cowboys in the post-Civil War West were black? You would if you celebrated Black History Month at the Black American West Museum in February. But fear not if you missed out; there’s still time to catch the culminating event of the “Black in the Saddle” film fest: an all-day movie marathon featuring The Bronze Buckaroo, Harlem Rides the Range, and Two Man Gun from Harlem. Saddle up in the morning with the “We Tell it Like it Was” guided tour, or learn about the lives of the 1880s black cowboys with the “A Day in a Life of a Cowboy” program. Sat 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Black American West Museum. $4-$8. For more information, call 303-292-2566 or visit www.blackamericanwest.org.
