The full Colorado Senate will weigh the proposed smoking ban today.

The hearing on House Bill 1175, which would ban smoking in most workplaces, restaurants, bars, taverns and casinos, is expected to be heated. The bill exempts airport smoking concessions, some hotel rooms and tobacco bars. Last week the bill was amended to also ban smoking at casinos.

The casino ban may be a stumbling block. As to bars and taverns, a recent poll found that 55 percent of Colorado residents would allow patrons to smoke. Of those polled, 52 percent were non-smokers.

At what point do people get fed-up with the Government dictating what we can do with our bodies? Will we return to prohibition next? Will our children come of age in a state that doesn’t allow them to drink, smoke, or have abortions? It seems we’re headed down that path.
