U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar has joined the ranks of those calling for the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

In a letter to President Bush yesterday, the Colorado Democrat said Rumsfeld “has engaged in a long history of misjudgment and incompetence in the Iraq conflict.”

Salazar listed what he views as Rumsfeld’s specifics acts of malfeasance:

  • Estimating in 2003 that the war would cost less that $50 billion when it is anticipated to exceed $500 billion.
  • Stating at the beginning of the war that the conflict would last six months or less when it has lasted more than three years.

I can think of many more instances than those, but take a look at what MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann said last night on MSNBC — he says it much better.
