Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will be in Colorado Springs on Saturday to speak about “upholding civil liberties and the war on terrorism.”

I’m curious to see how he defends the Military Commissions Act as a law that upholds civil liberties when it deprives detainees of the right to challenge the conditions of their detention, including raising allegations of torture, in a court of law.

I think a better description of his talk would be “abridging civil liberties and the war on terrorism.” But that’s just me. Or is it?
