The latest in downtown’s four-letter neighborhoods is the RiNo district, and tonight the River North Art District has banded together for a massive art tour. More than 48 art galleries and artist studios will participate in the tour, with evening receptions tonight from 6 – 9 p.m. and open houses on Saturday. Drop by to check out ceramic works at the Plinth Gallery, or Emmett Culligan’s mixed-media sculptures at Emmett Culligan Design. Check out Roxanne Rossi’s handmade paper designs at Paper Clouds Studio/Gallery, or drop by the Blue Silo Studios to visit the workplaces of a dozen different artists, just to name a few stops. Saturday’s self-guided open house tour runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and winds up at Ironton Studios, a cluster of 15 working artist studios where the RiNo arts district will officially celebrate its one-year anniversary. Guests can gather raffle tickets at each of the participating stops, and at 5 p.m. you can enter the raffle for a “Wall of Wine” or a new iPod.

The tour covers a lot of territory — ranging from approximately Broadway and Arapahoe in LoDo, up toward Brighton Boulevard and across the Platte to where Washington St. intersects with I-70 — so the map of the district is essential; check out the River North Arts District site for a PDF of the map and the free shuttle service stops provided on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
