The new chief executive of the DNC Host Committee, Mike Dino, is already on the job. His primary task: raising $35 million.

The event, where Democrats will nominate their candidate for president, is expected to cost about $80 million, with an estimated $25 million for security coming from the federal government. Democratic fund raiser Steve Farber said about $23 million has already been pledged, leaving up to $35 million still to raise.

Another task will be organizing the ten thousand people who have volunteered to make the convention a rousing success.

Let me suggest another top priority: Keeping the Committee’s website updated daily. Check out their news section. The latest news is from December, 2006.
