Jury selection is underway in the trial of Joseph Nacchio. Judge Edward Nottingham, not the lawyers, is asking the questions. The Denver Post, in an editorial today, lays out the reasons many want to see Nacchio convicted.

For investors who suffered big losses, it could be a chance to see the brash executive punished. To those who lost jobs as the company veered near bankruptcy, it might be a way to see the reviled CEO get his comeuppance.

Thankfully, those with such a direct interest in the outcome would never be allowed to serve on the jury. I’ll be updating from court this afternoon.
