Boulder County has joined the “Change a Light, Change the World” campaign. In a press release sent out this week (received by e-mail, no link) it is asking residents to make a small change: Swap out the single most used light bulb in your house.

As part of a nationwide Change a Light, Change the World campaign, Boulder County is asking residents to pledge to start saving energy by swapping out a highly-used incandescent bulb for an energy-efficient Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL). CFL bulbs use 75 percent less energy and last up to 10 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs – resulting in cost savings of $30-$60 over the lifetime of each bulb.

Office Depot is also participating by offering a $3.00 discount on the purchase of the new, energy efficient bulb. To register and pledge to make the swap, go here. The deadline is November 30.
