It looks like the bust of the day is the Denver Police Department’s 12 hour search for its 50 most wanted fugitives. With 100 officers searching and taking phone tips, only one on the 50 most wanted list was caught.

The event is in its 13th year and is the collaboration of 20 law enforcement agencies. Last year netted 34 arrests off the 50 most wanted.

Police did manage to arrest 21 persons not on the list who had outstanding misdemeanor and felony warrants. Why the drop in numbers for the top 50? DPD Spokesman Sonny Jackson said the phones didn’t ring this year as they had in years’ past. Maybe everyone was Christmas shopping. Or, maybe they just didn’t feel like playing tattletale.
