There’s grumbling in the local ad community that neither of the Denver dailies (or the Denver Business Journal, for that matter) has reported on the very big news that Crispin Porter + Bogusky, an agency headquartered in Miami and Boulder, has won a major contract with Microsoft that could be worth more than $300 million:

The creative world is absolutely buzzing about it. Yet our entire region is mum. What gives? Arguably, the year’s most prolific creative assignment is coming to town, and we yawned. Countless jobs and top-notch talent will be arriving soon, and we look the other way. Yet whenever a real estate developer sneezes, our news is there with a hanky. C’mon, Colorado. We’re better than that.

In a comment to the original item, Andy Bosselman wonders if CP+B isn’t sending press releases to the local media. That’s possible. We sent out a release yesterday about breaking the 100,000 press run barrier with our March issue, and it’s already been picked up by the Post and the Business Journal (not to mention a local blogger and even a national trade pub).

Still, this is the kind of story that local business writers shouldn’t have to be spoon-fed.
