Why: Duesberry’s blend of realism and abstraction received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, and her softly colored works embolden collections at the Denver Art Museum and the Smithsonian Institution.
Bonus: In 2005, Duesberry was the subject of a PBS documentary. Watch her in this clip from the film: www.joellynduesberry.com/video1.shtml.

COMEDY

What: Every other year comedian George Carlin drops by to enlighten our sunny city with laughter. Catch this comic film actor, author, and two-time Grammy winner live at the Buell Theater.

Bonus: Proceeds from the event benefit Denver’s public television channel KBDI-TV 12.
Details: Sat, 8 p.m. Buell Theatre, 1050 13th St. $45-$75. For more information, call 303-830-8497 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
