Presidential hopeful Barack Obama toured a Thornton school today.

During the tour, Obama walked the hallways, admiring student artwork, and bulletin boards depicting slavery and civil war school projects. Eighth graders gave Obama presentations about themselves and he critiqued the delivery.

“Not only could I have not done this in eighth grade, I probably couldn’t have done it before I ran for president,” Obama told them.

Obama also picked up the endorsement of superdelegate Pat Waak, Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party. She had long promised to stay neutral, but today gave three reasons for her endorsement:

Obama’s big victory in the Feb. 5 Colorado caucuses; that Obama’s “message of change” can beat Republican John McCain in November; and that the country needs his “visionary, uplifting leadership.”

Here’s the current total of Colorado superdelegates:

With Waak’s support, Obama now has seven Colorado superdelegates in his corner, compared to four for U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Four remain uncommitted: U.S. Reps. Mark Udall and John Salazar; U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar and Gov. Bill Ritter.
