Denver’s courts will not be closed during the Democratic National Convention. I received this e-mail Tuesday, sent by the Colorado Bar Association:

During the DNC, Aug. 23-30, Denver County Court will have lighter dockets to handle convention-related matters. While the Denver courts will be open for emergency issues that arise, such as landlord-tenant or restraining orders, no jury trials or civil cases will be set during the week. Judges and magistrates will work extra hours from 8 a.m. to midnight, Saturday, Aug. 23 to Saturday, Aug. 30, to handle DNC related cases. Judges and staff not in court will train and work on court projects. The U.S. District Court and Bankruptcy Court downtown will be open during regular business hours. That week, the Bankruptcy Court will not schedule any on-site hearings or meetings of creditors in Denver, due to possible traffic congestion that week.
