Army Sgt. 1st Class Richard Lopez offended two patrons at the Tap House Sports Grill in Steamboat Springs last week after playing Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” on the jukebox. He allegedly lost his life because of it, say Steamboat police, who have launched a homicide investigation focused on two men who allegedly assaulted Lopez, 37, from Fayetteville, North Carolina, according to The Denver Post. The men argued over the song selection, and a fight spilled onto the street outside the bar, drawing in others, according to Steamboat Pilot & Today. Two of the men involved, Lopez’s friends, Timothy and Wes Mottlau, are former Steamboat residents. Meanwhile, the suspects have left the area, police say.
