Balmer Pressured in Ethics Probe

By |

Representative David Balmer was asked, “once again,” to provide phone records and e-mails to the Colorado House Ethics Committee yesterday, according to the Denver Business Journal. The committee is investigating whether the Centennial Republican asked a lobbyist for the Colorado Chiropractors Association to persuade Representative Cindy Acree, an Aurora Republican, to support him in his effort to be named House minority leader.

An attorney for Balmer insists Balmer is cooperating and plans to turn over records related to legislative calls while removing unrelated information, reports The Denver Post. If the committee finds probable cause of wrongdoing, it can issue subpoenas for records.

Meanwhile, another panel is investigating whether a lobbyist for the chiropractors’ association violated rules by getting involved, according to The Associated Press.
