Best Lecture Bet: An Evening with Gertrude Jekyll

Stephanie Cohen, a landscape professor at Philadelphia’s Temple University and contributing editor for Fine Gardening magazine, takes on the persona of famous British gardener Gertrude Jekyll for this evening lecture about Jekyll’s works.

Jekyll (1843-1932) turned to gardening after her deteriorating eyesight forced her to give up a career in the arts. Her gardens, counting more than 300 throughout Europe and North America when she died, embraced the color and orderly disorder of impressionist paintings.
