John McMahon of the Breckenridge Resort Chamber tells CBS4 that holiday ski business was “much stronger than what we originally anticipated.” Resorts, which expected a major decline in revenue, have been heartened by the droves of skiers and snowboarders in recent weeks.

Vail Mountain says its busiest day in more than a year came last Friday, writes the Vail Daily, noting that at one point nearly 20,000 people were swooshing down the slopes.

Some bargain hunters, however, are wary about the costs of an outing, including the Watkins family, who recently went to Ski Cooper because it has the lowest single-day prices in the state ($42 for adults and $23 for kids under 15), according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Of course, all the recent powder helped–and there will be more of it today, according to 9News, which reports snow and strong winds are prompting a winter weather advisory that will be in effect until tomorrow for the Aspen, Vail, and Snowmass areas.
