The Rebellion, a two-month-old pizza and burger joint tucked along South Broadway, prides itself on “revolting” against traditional fast food’s sub-par ingredients. That’s not to say Rebellion is health food, but the shop does make its eats from scratch with ingredients such as organic flour, organic sugar, and extra-virgin olive oil.

After scanning the menu (pizza, wings, burgers, and salads), I ordered lean buffalo burgers, spicy fries, and regular fries and found them all to be fresh and tasty. Maybe not the best I’ve ever tasted (the fries weren’t as crisp as we would have liked), but where else can you find an 8-ounce buffalo burger that’s cooked to order and topped with crunchy leaf lettuce and freshly sliced tomato and red onion for $5.99?

Tip: This is an in-and-out operation–there’s no seating–so plan on carryout or delivery. Either way, call ahead because the handcrafted food takes time to prepare.
