Meanwhile, Republican leaders in Denver protested, as Jeremy Pelzer, 5280’s new politics blogger, writes.

There were plenty of theatrics, including some by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin, who stabbed at a roasted pig, according to Westword.

The GOP’s Bob Beauprez (pictured), who is considering a run against Governor Bill Ritter or U.S. Senator Michael Bennet in 2010, writes on his blog that Obama’s lecture on “fiscal discipline” is “like an alcoholic explaining the virtue of sobriety as he tosses another empty bottle over his shoulder.”
