Dick Cheney might know something about the 2006 arrest of Iraq war protester Steven Howards in Beaver Creek. So the former vice president will take an oath and then answer questions in a legal deposition regarding Howards’ treatment by the Secret Service, according to The New York Times. Howards admits he approached Cheney and called the war in Iraq disgusting, “or words to that effect.” The Denver Post adds that Howards contends he also “patted Cheney’s arm” in the dispute. About 10 minutes after walking away, Howards was arrested for an “assault” on Cheney and charged with misdemeanor harassment, the Times writes. Howards’ attorney, David Lane, says Howards’ civil rights were violated and that Secret Service agents offered conflicting accounts of the incident. Lane says Cheney can clear up the confusion.
