In Amee Ellsworth’s home, the fire water flows freely. Not whiskey, but Fort Lupton tap. As Fox 31 puts it, Ellsworth and her family are “stuck in a potentially explosive situation.” The water that flows from their tap is laced with so much natural gas that if you strike a match, it catches fire.

Officials with the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission say perhaps one of eight commercial gas wells within one-half mile of the house is leaking and causing the problem–a danger not just to the Ellsworths and their neighbors, but perhaps hundreds of other homes in the region.

“I’m terrified,” Ellsworth said. Officials from gas companies will speak with Ellsworth today in an effort to solve the problem, writes The Denver Post.
