I have a friend who is a cereal addict. His pantry is lined with half a dozen boxes of the stuff, and he’ll happily choose a bowl of grains over a square meal. So, I have little doubt that come tomorrow (National Cereal Day), he’ll be first in line at Red Trolley when the Highland ice cream shop debuts its self-serve cereal bar.

The offerings won’t include Lucky Charms or Froot Loops. Instead, Red Trolley is upping the ante with hand-blended cereals, including the Busy Bee–a combination of Mother’s Graham Bumpers and Cascadian Farms’ Honey Nut O’s with homemade almond pralines and honey-orange marshmallows. Top the bottomless bowls ($5) with organic milk, strained yogurt, fruit, or chocolate chips.

Bonus: Join Red Trolley’s Facebook group (I Love Red Trolley Ice Cream) and receive a coupon for a free bowl of cereal that’s good March 7 to April 7.
