Hot-Rod Hybrid to Debut at Denver Auto Show

|

Loveland-based Lightning Hybrids will unveil a dream sedan/hot rod prototype at the Denver Auto Show (April 1 to 5) capable of reaching 100 miles per gallon, according to several auto-obsessed blogs, including Car Body Design, which notes production on the hydraulic-biodiesel hybrid is expected to begin next year. PSFK reports the car will sell for $39,000-$59,000, and with a Corvette-like body, the car will offer 240 horsepower, zipping from 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds, writes The Raw Feed. Lightning Hybrids, according to Inhabitat, also is seeking a $10 million automotive prize. The idea for the car came from 80-year-old Sam Johnson, the father of two of the company’s founders, who challenged his sons to create a car that gets 100 miles to the gallon (via news release).
