I don’t like to drive, so for years I’ve wished that Pho Fusion Asian–the Tech Center’s quick, healthy Asian restaurant, with countless accolades to its name–had a location closer to downtown. After all, multiple eateries had always been the goal of owner Tom Bird.

Now, four years after the first Pho Fusion opening, the mission is accomplished. Pho Fusion has taken over a nondescript Chinese restaurant on the corner of 38th Avenue and Wolff Street, and although the space is strikingly spare (an attribute I hope will change as the restaurant settles), the fresh, served-in-minutes dishes more than make up for the atmosphere.

The generous bowls of pho are filled with sweet, anise-accented broth, tender noodles, and your choice of beef, chicken, tofu, meatballs, or even shrimp. My coconut curry pad thai was light, with wide rice noodles, crispy bean sprouts, and bright slices of celery.

Although the new Pho Fusion is still a drive from downtown, it’s worth it. No fast, casual Asian spot close by is quite as fresh or tasty.
