Jason Marquis, the Rockies third pitcher, and team manager Clint Hurdle summed up the team’s 10-5 loss to the Mariners during spring training in Tuscon over the weekend. Although Marquis had to throw the ball 88 times in just under four innings, he said it was productive to his curveball, according to The Denver Post. But Hurdle is still looking for stability from pitchers about three weeks until opening day, and Marquis gave up five runs and nine hits. “We’ve got some guys who are showing flashes of some good things, but as a staff, we’ve got to cover some ground here,” Hurdle says.
