Ever since Annie’s Cafe vacated its digs on the corner of Eight Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, there’s been a dearth of breakfast options for the surrounding neighborhoods.

Until now. Jon Schlegel, owner of downtown’s Snooze, an AM Eatery (and one of 5280‘s best restaurants) just announced plans to open a second location at Seventh and Colorado. The retro-cool breakfast-lunch spot known for its tasty, whimsical eats will open early summer in the former Boston Market space. (Which, according to Schlegel, was once the home of Colorado’s busiest gas station.)

As far as I’m concerned, Snooze can’t open soon enough. Finally, there will be a walkable spot to fill the bellies of hungry Congress Park and Hilltop residents. Bring on the pineapple upside-down pancakes, the challah French toast, and Juan’s breakfast tacos!
