The news about water has been pretty bad as problems with quality and dwindling supplies become more severe. Consider a recent investigation from The Denver Post, which found that more than 150,000 Coloradans–many of them in small communities–drank water last year that violated public health standards at a time when the price tag to fix such issues is climbing.

Oil companies are buying up Colorado rights to water before communities and farmers can get to them, according to Discover. And plans by Nestle, the world’s largest food and beverage company, to capture and bottle Arkansas Valley spring water to sell in stores has the locals in an uproar, according to another Post story.

Meanwhile, CBS’ Sunday Morning followed Boulder photographer James Balog to the Arctic, which isn’t as frozen as it appears. His time-lapse photography captures climate change in action, showing that glaciers move a lot faster than a glacial pace.
