On a vote of 46-19, Colorado’s state representatives agreed to allow the Colorado Economic Development Commission to establish special enterprise zones, reviving hopes that a NASCAR track will come to Aurora after all.

The vote came after “extensive floor debate” over whether the measure was corporate welfare or a needed economic stimulus, according to the Denver Business Journal , which reported that 23 Democrats and 23 Republicans voted yes, and 15 Democrats and four Republicans voted no.

Representative Joe Rice, a Littleton Democrat, says a NASCAR race would have the impact of four Super Bowls in one week, attracting tourists from around the nation.
