Give an architect a microphone and the conversation’s likely to go on until heads start nodding. Knowing this in 2003, designers Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo’s Klein Dytham architecture created Pecha Kucha (Japanese for chit-chat) night. Each architect, artist, or whoever else takes the stage in the duo’s design-savvy open mic has only six minutes and 40 seconds to get his message across. And not even those few minutes can get out of hand. Each Pechu Kucha speaker follows a predetermined format: 20 PowerPoint slides for 20 seconds each. Since Klein and Dytham’s first Pecha Kucha evening, the program as spread throughout the world. Architects, photographers, and even actors in Oaxaca, Valencia, Los Angeles have tapped into their tech skills and spoken about everything from high fashion to the mathematical symbol pi. Last spring, Denver via the Buntport Theater jumped on the band wagon, too, and tonight showcases the fifth local Pecha Kucha night. On today’s roster are Wendy Littlepage, the director of the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, and photographer and illustrator Justin Simoni. 8 p.m. Buntport Theater, 717 Lipan St., 720-946-1388 $5 donation
