Nuggets Tie a Record Older Than Kenyon Martin’s Mom

|

The Denver Nuggets destroyed the New Orleans Hornets by a 58-point margin in Game 4 of last night’s first-round playoff series, tying the National Basketball Association’s 1956 record for largest victory ever in the playoffs. As the Nuggets’ Kenyon Martin points out, his mother hadn’t yet been born when the record was first set. The Nuggets 121-63 victory was a turn-around from Game 3, when the team lost by two points, writes The Denver Post.

Nuggets coach George Karl was elated last night: “I don’t think I’ve ever had a team play defense like that. The energy, the bounce was good, and defensively, when you play that well, the offense just happens.”

Denver can put the Hornets out of their misery by winning Game 5 at the Pepsi Center tomorrow night. A win would mean the first time the Nuggets have moved to round 2 since 1994.
