The Supreme Court in Iowa recently decided to legalize same-sex marriage, a decision that may bode well for the state’s economy, reports United Press International. Iowa is now the third state in the nation to permit gay marriage (the other two are Connecticut and Massachusetts), leaving New West to quote from analysis that predicts Colorado would be among several states to follow the trend in coming years–maybe even as early as next year. Student Joe Peterson and two of his friends, Alex Cobell and Tara Craig, are pushing a 2010 ballot measure that would give gay couples all the “benefits, protections and responsibilities” of a marriage, writes The Denver Post, noting the effort is the “second ballot measure filed this year by 20-somethings that deal with gay rights.”
