One day after the Avalanche finished its worst season since coming to Colorado in 1995, president Pierre Lacroix has fired vice president and general manager Francois Giguere.

“We are too proud of what we have accomplished in this market to ignore where we are and what happened in just a very short period of time,” Lacroix said in a statement (via The National Post).

The Avs have the third-worst record in the National Hockey League and a long list of injured players, including captain Joe Sakic, who missed most of the season, and Paul Stastny. At least the Avs have a shot at good prospects in the draft lottery tonight.
