World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon is ready to deliver a pile driver to Stan Kroenke at the Pepsi Center. The Nuggets, who begin their Western Conference series final against the Lakers tonight in Los Angeles, are expected to return to the Pepsi Center on Saturday–the same night WWE has scheduled an episode of “Monday Night Raw.” McMahon, holding up a Lakers jersey in an interview with 9News, says WWE plans to show up on Monday. “When you do have a date, you plan everything around it,” he explains, adding, “We may be holding an event in a parking lot somewhere.” Kroenke Sports Enterprises, which owns the Pepsi Center, released a statement saying the WWE wants “to resolve the situation amicably.” But McMahon adds that “even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs…Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25th date for a potential playoff game,” writes CBS4. Game 1 starts at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The Nuggets haven’t made it this far in the playoffs since 1985, when they faced the Lakers and lost. Lakers star Kobe Bryant tells The Los Angeles Times that he expected to face Denver and anticipates a tough series. Outside of Denver, most people aren’t giving the Nuggets a real chance, including Sports Illustrated.
