When Olivéa opened earlier this month, Uptown finally got the fresh, modern bistro it deserved–not to mention a noteworthy brunch spot.

Now, on lazy Saturdays and Sundays, residents can choose between Steuben‘s retro egg-in-a-hole, Parallel 17‘s internationally flavored Benedict, or Olivéa‘s Mediterranean-influenced French toast and sandwiches.

Of those options, the new bistro’s dishes are especially simple and elegant. When my group of seven dropped by, our favorite dish was the eggs Olivéa–a long rectangular plate of creamy polenta topped with fresh tomato sauce and two bubbly, sunny-side-up eggs. We also agreed that the summery lemon-mint spritzer (a chilled blend of limoncello, mint, and sparkling water) and the fiery Caldo Mary (a Bloody with a kick of habanero) were just the way to settle in to mid-morning.
