The Denver Nuggets slaughtered the Los Angeles Lakers last night in a 120-101 Game 4 win during the National Basketball Association’s Western Conference Finals. The series is now tied 2-2 heading into Game 5 tomorrow in Los Angeles (7 p.m., ESPN). Though the Nuggets’ Carmelo Anthony had an off night, backup guard J.R. Smith filled the void with 24 points and four big assists (via The New York Times). The Los Angeles Times notes the game was the series’ first blowout; the Nuggets’ strategy has been to keep games close after studying game tape from last year’s NBA Finals, when the Lakers were defeated 4-2 by the Boston Celtics (via Sports Illustrated). Meanwhile, last night in Los Angeles the Staples Center hosted World Wrestling Entertainment’s “Monday Night Raw” event, which was supposed to take place at the Pepsi Center, but had to be moved because of the playoff game. WWE chairman Vince McMahon smacked down an actor playing Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke during the event–payback for the cancelation, writes The Associated Press.
