Our first stop is Evergreen Lake, accessible by an easy 1.3-mile walk of captivating views. Beginning May 29 and lasting through August 23, canoes, paddleboats, kayaks, sailboats, and fishing boats will be available for rent. (Canoes, paddleboats, and kayaks are the most affordable at $8 per half hour.) Check the website for details and hours.

After you’ve freckled your noses, head over to Creekside Cellars, where you can try Colorado-made wines in a homey tasting room and restaurant. If it’s nice out, definitely opt to sit on the deck by the bubbling creek. Glasses of wine go for just $5-$6, and the cinnamon brownie’
