Several years ago I sat down with Waylon Lewis, the editor and founder of Elephant Journal. At the time I was working on a story for a daily newspaper in Boulder about ‘zines, and Elephant–a magazine that balances irreverent writing with a genuine take on the holistic life–was starting to take off. Lewis had just initiated a series of live interviews on the back porch of Trident, a coffeeshop, and they seemed promising.

The interview series has blossomed into “Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis,” and tonight it’s taking place at the Boulder Theater, featuring Hosea Rosenberg, winner of “Top Chef,” Jeffrey Kalmikoff of Threadless.com, and yoga teacher John Friend.

The interviews are broken up with interludes like a dance performance from the Boulder Ballet, music from Paper Bird, and an eco fashion show featuring prAna. (Here’s the full lineup of info.) As much as I’m proud to see this homegrown ‘zine find such success, I’m also glad to see that Lewis has stayed true to his roots and is celebrating our local celebrities and artists.
