What Your Local Auto Dealer Can Teach You

|

Chrysler dealers are turning to the U.S. bankruptcy court in hopes of preventing the automaker from cutting 789 dealerships in less than a month, as the company sells off its assets, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Chrysler wants to close 13 dealerships in Colorado, as 9News reports, including dealers in Denver, Wheat Ridge, Northglenn, Parker, Craig, Longmont, Fort Morgan, Durango, La Junta, Montrose, and Delta. Seven of the dealers also sell other brands and may be able to weather the change, says Tim Jackson, president of the Colorado Auto Dealers Association.
More than 1,000 notices were sent to General Motors dealerships on Friday, but none to Weld County, notes the Greeley Tribune, although it doesn’t mean the dealers are in the clear.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg News writes that small-town auto dealers have many lessons to teach the industry, such as knowing what their customers prefer.
