With the Rockies on a winning streak, you may be inclined to head to the ballpark this weekend. And while you’re likely familiar with the $4 Rockpile ticket bargain, there’s a lesser-known offer, called the PowerTicket, which combines good seats and free food. All the particulars of the deal are outlined here, but the gist is that if you purchase midfield ($40) or outfield ($38) box seats at the regular price, you get $10 in concession credit as a bonus. These tickets are available for most home games, including this weekend’s series against the Seattle Mariners (tomorrow, 7:10 p.m.; Saturday, 6:10 p.m.; and Sunday, 1:10 p.m.). Sports fans know concessions can get pricey, so I’ve put together 5 combinations to help maximize those free 10 bucks. 1. Fill up on a nacho supreme ($5.25), then cool off with a lemonade Squishy ($4.75). 2. The classic combination of a cheeseburger ($6) and beer-battered onion rings ($4). 3. Pair two perennial ballpark favorites: draft beer ($6.50) and Cracker Jack ($3.50). 4. Snag a foot-long bratwurst ($6.50), top it with your favorite condiments, and wash it down with a bottled water ($3.50). 5. Snack on a large soft pretzel ($3) and get a cheese cup for dipping ($2), then nab a medium Coke, Diet Coke, or Sprite ($4.25). You won’t quite reach a $10 total, but it’s a good option if you’re not too hungry. Bonus: Stock up on essentials outside of Coors Field by purchasing water, soda, peanuts, and sunflower seeds from the industrious street vendors for much less than you’d pay inside the gates. Most items run between $1 and $3, and you don’t have to worry about smuggling them in because they’re allowed. So instead of spending $4.25 of your credit on a soft drink, use it on a regular Dippin’ Dots for the same price. Or, sub the $3.50 bottled water for some candy.
