Here’s the deal: I’m going to keep writing about the Colorado Rockies until they lose, and the Blake Street Bombers pulled out their eighth consecutive win yesterday, edging the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4. They took a 5-1 lead into the ninth inning, but then closer Huston Street gave up a three-run homer to Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun. The Rockies were able to hold on for the win, preserving a streak that has lasted since June 5. The Denver Post does a good job in pointing out just how special this eight-game run has been. To wit: The Rockies have outscored their opponents 55-20; the bullpen went 13 and 1/3 innings without giving up a run until Braun’s bomb yesterday; it’s the first time the Rockies have ever won eight games on a road trip. Let’s see if the Rockies can keep it up as they welcome the Seattle Mariners to town for a three-game set tonight (7:10 p.m., Fox Sports Net).
